-SAVE TENZIN DELEK RINPOCHE'S LIFE-

Day Seven:
From:
Junction US 41 with SR 114 (68 miles from Chicago)
To: Town of Lake Village (20 miles to Cedar Lake)

Distance: 14 Miles
Topography: I think there was actually a hill today.

Weather: Ain't no sunshine when she's gone,
It's not warm when she's away
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And she's always gone too long
Anytime she goes away!!!

Landmarks: Well there was a cemetery and umm yeah
But it was a really peaceful cemetery
However, we did have lunch in Morocco

The March: (ahh the benefits of deciding to walk on your day off and getting to cross the time zone for the second day in a row)
Start: 11:00am
Break: 1:00pm
Lunch Break: 2:00pm (Morocco, you heard me)
2nd Half: 3:00pm
Finish: 5:00pm (sun sets way too soon nowadays)

Avg. Time: 3mph
Total Time: 5 hours

Daily Mileage: 14
To Date: 136.8

Marchers:
Core: 4: Passang Passang (Minnesota), Jigme Norbu (Bloomington), Tenzin Jamyang (Chicago), Ngawang Lobsang (Chicago)

Guests: 2: Jamyang Dolma (Minnesota), Ngawang Dolma- aka Ngawang D (Minnesota)

Casualties: Earlier in the day Cynthy Scruggs arranged for several of her Massage Therapists to come down to the UU Church in Lafayette and help the Walkers work out some of the sore spots and repair the hooves so to speak. The day was smooth after that start. Thanks Ali McConville, Luke and Shadrack, and Nadine Vogrig. Doug is very upset that Tenzin chose to let him sleep the morning in. Very Jealous as the difference in body stress and overall discomfort were still being reported at dinner.

Stand Outs: Tsering Dhondup's legs started off the walk in dire straits, but he still found a way to participate when possible. Larry Gerstein as well since he was diagnosed with Osteoporosis- bone degenerative disease- and was unable to walk at all this past summer. Jigme Norbu has so many blisters its not worth anyone's time counting.

Rating: Considering we were supposed to have a complete day off 14 miles in crappy weather isn't too shabby.

Host Families:
Mon Dec 6: Karen and Amanda Piegza (It's a hard GZ: They are Polish not Italian)
Breakfast: Courtesy of Cynthy Scruggs (Doug didn't score any of this either)
Lunch: Merchant's Country Manor; Morocco, IN US41/SR 114 (courtesy of Dave 'The Man' Raymer)
Dinner: Good Table Family Restaurant; Kentland, IN (again Dave is THE MAN)

Leg 8: Pushing further up the road to reach Cedar Lake. 14-18 miles

Presentations: 8:30 am Hanover Senior High School, Cedar Lake, IN
7:00pm Unitarian Universalist Community Church, Park Forest, IN

Quote of Day: "So what about our teenager over here? Hey Passang Passang how old are you anyway?"
"Hey Doug, you know it's kind of funny. I know you said I look like Topden, but his Mom looks like my Mom too. What does this mean?"
