This morning we woke up to find the border of Oregon and Washington enshrouded in thick gray fog; the Lewis and Clark Bridge completely out of sight. As I stood on the middle bridge in the clouds waiting for the walkers to approach, the fog began to roll away disappearing into a blue sky, and the walkers crossed into Washington State.
Altanbat, Lhakpa and Aaron walking through the town of Kelso.
Jade Netanya from Boulder, Colorado has walked with us since the 10th. A student at the Naropa Institute and a dedicated Tibet supporter, this was her last day of walking before returning to class. Thanks, Jade. We'll miss you.
Jaga walked today decked out in signs supporting Tibet, Inner Mongolia and Taiwan.
As the walkers approached the support van for a water break, Michelle shows the latest edition of the Longview Daily News. The reporter had visited the walk a few days before and the photographer came out this morning.
Along the road we passed a preschool where the children were playing outside. Their curiosity brought them to the edge of the fence to take a closer look, and we took the opportunity to talk to them about Tibet and the Panchen Lama. |
