Artist: Sherap Sangpo, Minneapolis

To whom this may concern:

This is to inform all concerned that I am a Tibetan artiste and an ex-member of Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) which is based in Dharamsala, India. I joined TIPA at the age of 8 and spent the best part of my life at TIPA learning traditional Performing Arts of Tibet until November 1997. During my 16 years of stay at TIPA, I received training in all aspects of traditional Tibetan Arts including Tibetan Operas, Tibetan folk songs and dances, Tibetan Court dance (performed only to H.H. the Dalai Lama) Classical Tibetan songs and dances and various theatrical plays and musical instrument. I have played all the parts of lead female opera characters of almost all Tibetan operas.

I have performed all around world with my fellow artistes at many important venues every year since 1991 until my last tour of Europe with TIPA members in summer 1997.

After moving to US in November 1997, I have been performing all around United States with Chaksampa Dance Group and other artistes at very important festivals and even performed with world famous artistes like Beastie Boys, REM and Philip Glass to name a few and had the opportunity to perform a solo for an Italian opera Co. (Change Perfoming Arts) in New York in 1999. Soon after moving to US, I have been active in promoting and preserving our rich traditional performing Arts and even taught to our Tibetan community and to Ethnic Dance Theatre co based here in Minneapolis.

Our humility is our biggest gift.
