The walkers are headed east on Highway 20 approximately twenty miles away from Niagara Falls and the border between Canada and The United States. The morning started off with snow and wind but by noon the sun was shining and the temperature reached about 35 degrees Fahrenheit; a great temperature for walking.
Today 27 people marched for Tibet's independence including 3 year-old Tenzin Tashi. Tenzin is accompanied by his mother, Dawa Dolma, otherwise known as Dadon. Dadon is a Tibetan pop singer who has to flee Tibet 3 years ago because her music was viewed by The PRC as pro-Tibetan independence. Dadon and Tenzin will walk the entire march.
Valerie Yeow (left), a Malaysian-born Canadian who is walking the entire route, and Dadon (right) walked the point today. The point walker remains about 50 yards ahead of the group serving as an alert to oncoming traffic of the group ahead.
Kay Erickson (left) and Sarah Zemelsky (right) carried the banner today following close behind the point people. Both Kay and Sarah will walk the whole route.
Following the point and the banner is the walks leader Thubten Jigme Norbu who is then followed by the rest of the walkers.
