Day
2 - June 28 - Thursday
After reciting some prayers and singing some independence songs,
the walkers were ready to begin walking. Throughout the morning,
numerous cars honked their horns in support of Tibet, and the walkers
distributed many informational flyers.
For
lunch, the walkers ate at a Subway Sandwich shop. The owner of the
restaurant was extremely supportive of Tibet and even gave the walkers
free cookies, drinks, and a discount.
The
heat and humidity continued on the second day of the walk. Even
so, none of the walkers complained and all were able to endure the
challenge. The walkers covered 14 miles today.
In the
evening, the walkers shared in a potluck dinner with members of
The Unitarian Society: A UU Congregation in East Brunswick, New
Jersey. The walkers also gave a well-received presentation to those
in attendance. Like Thursday evening, a couple of the teenage walkers
discussed why they were walking.
