May 24

Interfaith dialogue over a pizza dinner

We began Wednesday, May 24, by moving out of the Episcopal Church in Cayucos. Our walk started in Cayucos that morning and then we made our way down through town, along a bike trail and then into Morro Bay.

Everything went well as usual. In the afternoon we enjoyed walking through Montana de Oro State Park. Several people joined us for the day, which always helps lift spirits and it makes us look better as there are more people walking.

After we finished walking we headed over to the Methodist Church in San Luis Obispo, which would be our housing for the night.

That evening we had a pitch-in/pizza party combined with a program. Questions ranged from reincarnation to political hopes as usual.

It is always rather invigorationing to indulge in interfaith dialogue, because it seems that most churches (at least the ones that are kind enough to invite us) are open to discuss and learn about the Tibetan situation.

Yishe Topden, our monk on the walk, decided that today was his birthday so we gave him a true American celebration, complete with trick candles.
