May 31

Quiet walk and good program

After moving out of St. Peterıs church we headed down to our starting point for the dayıs walk on the south end of Santa Maria on Wednesday, May 31.

Just after the group walked away from the support vehicle, a television crew showed up wanting an interview. We gladly waited for them and gave them an earful about the Tibet-China situation.

Wednesdayıs walk was probably one of the quietest that we had had for a while. There wasnıt much traffic or much to look at. But, we enjoyed each others company as usual.

A local farmer allowed us to take lunch in his yard, which was a nice grassy spot with plenty of shade. That was very nice because there hadnıt been much shade all day.

Jasmine, a woman from San Luis Obispo, joined us in walking for the day. Her family coordinated some of our housing while in SLO and it was great to see her again.

After walking we drove down to St. Maryıs Episcopal Church in Lompoc where we would stay for the next couple of nights. I say couple because our housing fell through for the weekend and we werenıt sure how long weıd be in Lompoc and where weıd go to next.

After eating a bit of an early dinner we prepared for an evening program which would take place in the church sanctuary. St. Maryıs has recently moved to a new location on the edge of town. The new facility is incredibly beautiful with a view to match.

Our program was well attended and well received. For the second night in a row we grabbed the audienceıs attention and really made an impact.

I think weıre getting rather good at this walking/presentation thing. Itıs too bad it will end in a few weeks.
