June 10

Down the 101

We made a major change to our route for one of the first times on Saturday, June 10. Instead of walking an in-land winding road, we decided to take a route that led us out along Highway 101 (one of the biggest in California).

It was kind of the lesser of two evils, but it worked out quite well. We were joined by about 10 Santa Barbarans that day. Our change shaved a few miles off our total walking distance, but it also gave us an additional day off.

After walking we had another full evening ahead of us. First we cruised back to the Casa for yet another wonderful meal provided by Rebecca.

Then, we headed over to the Tibetan Photo Exhibit opening. And then it was onto the Unitarian Society Auditorium for an evening presentation.

Kevin Young began the evening with an excellent presentation to the 105 people in attendance and a round of thank yous for everyone the helped us during the week.

After our three ex-political prisoners spoke, "Tibet's Stolen Child" was shown. The movie is incredible and always has a tremendous impact.

We said good-bye to our great friend Kevin Young that evening. I think it is important to recap all that he did for us and thank him again. He got us probably the best housing wešve had yet. He made sure we had many meals cooked for us and just about all of our food donated. He got ice cream donated. He got trolley rides donated. He coordinated two incredible presentations. He got massages (plural) donated. He found an acupuncture therapist to work on Ani Pachenšs sore ankle. He helped us raise an incredible amount of money.

He rocked.

Thank you so very much Mr. Kevin Young.
